‘It takes 21 days to break a habit’ or so the theory goes. Personally I think if you change a habit for 7 days in a row then you are well on your way to making a positive step forward. Every day from here gets easier, once you see results you will be spurred on for another 7 days & another & another. The key is to have goals, find support, keep active, stay focused, record your results, keep looking for the positive outcomes- notice them-enjoy them and tick off another day.
